Pomp and Colour as CAS – Ministry of Treasury & Planning officially launches KISM Towers and Strategic Plan
The Chief Administrative Secretary, National Treasury and Planning Hon. Nelson Gaichuhie on Thursday 28 October formally launched KISM Towers and KISM’s 2020-2024 Strategic Plan.
KISM Towers located along Ngong road is celebrated as the “Centre of Excellence for Supply Chain Practitioners” and will serve as the headquarters of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management. The Towers will also serve as home to other related government agencies, notably the Kenya Institute of Supplies Examination Board (KISEB) and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).
The building, together with efforts to establish a Regional Research and Consultancy Hub (RRCH), is part of KISM’s endeavours to diversify its income portfolio.
Accompanying Hon. Gaichuhie during the launch was Dr Julia Ojiambo, KEPSA representative Ms. Martha Cheruto, PPRA Representative Ms. Pauline Opiyo and Acting KISEB CEO Dr Fred Ongisa among other dignified guests.
In her remarks, the PPRA representative Ms. Pauline Opiyo noted that this will be a home for key stakeholders in procurement in the country while applauding the National Treasury for the role they have played in making sure the dream to have this Tower has been realised and making it possible to have the three key organizations (KISM, KISEB, PPRA) under ‘one roof’ to ease in networking and collaboration.
Dr Julia Ojiambo remarked that members of the procurement and supplies chain management community finally have a place they can call home and use to advance their skills while enhancing a community of practice. She further challenged KISM members and fellow professionals to remain true to the profession they have championed since 2007 and promote the development of the nation through fair supply chain management.
In his remarks, KISM Chairman Mr. John Karani, while narrating the journey that KISM has undertaken and the key elements contained in the Strategic Plan, reiterated that KISM has been on a journey of building the foundations, the pillars that anchor a sustainable institute and hence the reason why KISM is anchored on 8 key pillars.
In his key address, Hon. Nelson Gaichuhie commented that as a Ministry, his team is acutely aware that its vision and mission cannot be achieved without an efficiently and effectively managed procurement and supply chain management system, hence the need to partner with KISM to ensure excellence in economic and financial management.
He further noted that the primary objective of KISM’s Strategic Plan is in line with the strategic aspirations set out in the national development agenda – Kenya Vision 2030, the Third Medium Term Plan (2018 – 2022), the “Big Four” Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Africa’s Agenda 2063, among other national and international obligations.
KISM wishes to thank its Council Members, Staff, esteemed partners with special mention to the National Treasury and Ministry of Planning, Xetova and KISEB and all its vendors who made the launch a success. KISM calls to action the involvement of all in this journey of supply chain transformation through concerted efforts by all stakeholders.
